歐氏為一位經驗豐富的單簧管導師和學者，持香港教育大學教育博士學位(音樂教育)和中文大學文學碩士學位(音樂)，亦以優異成績考獲英國倫敦聖三一音樂學院LTCL單簧管和ATCL色士風演奏文憑。他的研究興趣為學習音樂的價值和動機、課程設計和學校音樂樂團，亦常參與國際教育研討會並發表演說，如2022 ISME世界音樂教育研討會和亞太音樂教育研究論壇(2015香港，2017 馬六甲，2019澳門，2021東京）。

除學術研究外，歐氏亦熱衷於單簧管教學，多年教授本港不同中小學學校，其學生們亦曾為學校樂團擔任首席或在香港校際音樂節屢獲佳績，包括聖保羅男女中學、德望學校、聖若瑟書院、聖保羅男女中學附屬小學和聖若瑟小學等。部分學生亦選擇在海外和香港不同大專院校繼續深造，包括香港中文大學，香港浸會大學和香港教育大學等。

歐氏多次擔任香港教育大學樂器計劃評分員和音樂比賽評判，包括聯校音樂大賽和澳洲國際音樂大賽等。此外，他是Clarion單簧管合奏團的主席，曾於2019年在Buffet香港單簧管比賽奪得金獎。

An experienced clarinet educator and scholar, Dr. Au received his Doctor of Education from the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and Master of Arts from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He also attained the LTCL (Trinity College London) for clarinet and the ATCL (Trinity College London) for saxophone with distinction. His research interests include the school music curricula, music ensembles, and values and motivations in music learning. He presented at international symposiums such as the ISME 2022 World Conference and the Asia-Pacific Symposium for Music Education Research (APSMER) in Hong Kong (2015), Melaka (2017), Macau (2019), & Tokyo (2021).

Apart from his academic pursuits, Dr. Au is an enthusiastic clarinettist and experienced educator. His students have been serving as the principals of the music ensembles and winners of the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, including St. Paul’s Co-educational College, Good Hope School, St. Joseph’s College, St. Paul’s Co-educational College Primary School, St. Joseph’s Primary School, etc. Some of his students pursue their studies at tertiary education institutions overseas and in Hong Kong, including The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, and The Education University of Hong Kong, etc.

Recently, he has served as the marker for the EdUHK Instrumental Studies Scheme and an adjudicator for various music competitions, including the Joint School Music Competition and the Australian International Music Competition, etc. He is the chairperson of the Clarion Clarinet Ensemble, winner of the “Buffet Crampon Clarinet Competition Hong Kong 2019” with the Gold Award.
